An Old Piano
This is a story about friendship and dreams.
Deep within the forest stands an old piano — weathered by time, quietly present yet filled with untold histories.
It once belonged to a boy, but because of war, they were separated.
Many years later, when the boy becomes an old man and returns to his hometown, he touches the piano again, and the sound mixes with wind, rain, animals, and memories.

Continuing Aining’s exploration of listening as a way of perceiving the world, the book treats sound not merely as accompaniment but as a narrative structure. Silence, resonance, and duration guide the reader through a contemplative experience shaped as much by atmosphere as by story.

The original score is composed and performed by Zhao Meng, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, whose restrained and textural approach deepens the book’s immersive sonic environment. Readers are invited not only to look, but to listen — discovering how memory, sound, and imagination quietly endure.
